1950s design wall mirror
Stylish designer mirror
This beautiful wall mirror with a looped wire brass frame was made around the 1950s, probably by Josef Frank.
The mirror itself has some scratches and a few wear spots.
A connection between the metal loops is loose, fortunately this is not noticeable.
On the back there is a sticker from the store in Stolberg, Germany, where it was originally sold.

Josef Frank (1885 – 1967)
He grew up in Austria and studied architecture at the Vienna University of Technology from 1903 til 1908. During the 1920s he worked as an architect, designing municipal housing complexes to amend the shortage of homes in Vienna.
In 1925, Josef Frank and his colleague Oskar Wlach founded the interior design firm Haus & Garten. Their product range included furniture, lighting, patterned fabrics, and carpets.
In 1932, he entered into a partnership with Svenskt Tenn, which would further develop when he moved to Sweden.
The first international breakthrough came at the World's Fair in Paris in 1937 and in New York in 1939. The designs were bold and different.
In 1940, Josef Frank went to New York, where he taught at the New School for Social Research in Manhattan. During these years, Josef Frank designed many of the print designs that remain part of the Svenskt Tenn range today. After the war, he returned to Sweden and Svenskt Tenn.
In the following years, Josef Frank continued to design interiors, furniture, and prints, while Estrid Ericson created the environments that brought them to life. Together they also created interiors for numerous private homes and public spaces. Their creative collaboration lasted until Josef Frank's death in 1967.
